Calories 101: Cotton Candy
Chester J. Zelasko, Ph.D. | May 19, 2008

The final arena food was cotton candy. This was the most mis-ranked food on the list! Many people ranked it number one or two instead of last at 220 calories.

Yes, cotton candy is 100% sugar, but it’s full of something that has no calories: air. The biggest hazard is that the sugar can contribute to dental or blood-sugar problems, but at least it’s not loaded with fat like all the other arena foods are. If you’re going to enjoy something sweet when you go out to a park, arena, or concert, cotton candy could replace a snack in the 30 Day Plan--not every day, but on special occasions it’s a better choice than other sweets you might find, and even better if you share.

I hope you’ve found this series on arena foods to be beneficial. If you’ve been doing what I asked, you’ve been weighing and measuring your food for the past few weeks. As I said, if you’re going to be able to visualize what a portion should be, the only way to do it is to practice. It’s all a part of a better and healthier lifestyle.
