Kids And Recipes
Patricia Zifferblatt | August 28, 2008

Better Life Unlimited has been doing Cooking with Kids for several years. One of the most interesting things we discovered this year related to the children who took the class in previous years and were attending again. Their parents said the kids had continued to use the recipes they learned in class at home--under supervision, of course. The recipes change every year and so by the third year, the kids had a variety of recipes they knew how to cook.

Children are like sponges. They soak up everything and with a little encouragement, patience, and especially time, they can retain the most important things like how to exercise and prepare food. They learn to understand the role of sanitation by washing their hands before preparing food. They learn about the science of cooking by observing how cupcakes will fill up an ice cream cone placed on top of it during baking. As parents, you have such a great opportunity to positively affect your children--the things you do together will stay with them for a lifetime.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this series on children. All the recipes from Cooking with Kids can be found in the Kids Health section of our website or by clicking this link.

Further, if you’d like Better Life Unlimited to conduct a Cooking with Kids class in your community center, school, or church, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’d love to help you cook with your kids.
